Dean Harrison bounced back from the disappointment of retiring from the lead of Saturday’s TT 2018 Superbike race to claim podium finishes in both the Supersport and Superstock encounters.

The Silicone Engineering Kawasaki took second to Michael Dunlop in the morning’s Supersport race, posting a new personal best on a 600cc machine of 128.619mph, and then took a close third in the scintillating litre-bike race held later that day.

“I was obviously disappointed after Saturday but you can’t change history and two podiums in a day is a good way to bounce back,” said Harrison. “I got off to good start in the Supersport race – I have done in each race to be fair – but when I saw ‘P2, -2’ on my pit board, I knew it would be Michael.

“I didn’t think I had the pace on the 600 as I’ve felt more comfortable on the big bikes all week and we used an engine that hadn’t been run before but the race went well. When Michael came by me, I just tucked in behind him.”

The Superstock race followed and again Harrison set off ‘like a scalded cat’, leading on the opening lap through Glen Helen by an astonishing 3.5s. An opening lap in excess of 133mph gave him the lead going into lap two but he ultimately had to give best to Peter Hickman and Michael Dunlop, as he battled front end chatter on the Kawasaki ZX-10R.

“I was strong from the start again but just didn’t have that last little bit although it was nice to the first Kawasaki and first Metzeler rider home. I set a good opening lap but they started to reel me in and I’ve had a bit of a chatter problem with the front end which we’ve tried to dial out so didn’t have the pace to run with Peter and Michael. Two podiums in a day at the TT is never a bad thing though so I’m happy enough.”
