Valencia MotoGP test: Yamaha 'must be clear on bike decision' – Vinales

Maverick Vinales has warned that Yamaha must be very clear on it’s technical strategy before a decision on development direction is made for the 2018 MotoGP season.

The Spaniard has been testing both old and new M1s at Valencia - he and team-mate Valentino Rossi had seven bikes between them - but no clear decision has been reached. Vinales likes the front end of the 2016 bike and the feel it gives but says the 2017 gives better traction.

“They have to work and we have to decide which chassis, or which way to take for 2018. You have to be very clear and sure about the decision. The 2017 bike had better traction, better acceleration. And with the 2016 I feel better with the front. It is what I was feeling all year,” said Vinales, speaking at the track.

“Finally let’s see if we take the 2016 and work to make the acceleration good or we get the 2017 and try to make, especially the braking area and corner speed better. The 2016 is better for corner speed. I feel more turning and it’s easier for me. Let’s see. We have to decide which way is the easiest to be fast.”
