Valencia MotoGP test: Zarco second on 2017 hybrid YZR-M1

Monster Yamaha's Johann Zarco was fast out of the blocks using a 2017 Yamaha YZR-M1 chassis on day one of MotoGP testing at Valencia and has already stated that is the bike he will race next season.

Zarco had a 2016 engine inside the newer frame and was quick, setting the second-fastest time behind Maverick Vinales, which also gave Yamaha a third configuration option and he loved it.

“This is the bike that I will use next season and I’m really satisfied. The bike gives me a better feeling on the brake, it’s easy to turn and to ride and I feel more comfortable. I was able to ride one tenth slower than my best lap time tin qualifying but without pushing as in qualifying," said Zarco, speaking at the track.

"I’m currently using the second version of chassis that the factory riders used this year between Catalunya and Silversone GP. I may try anther one tomorrow, but this is basically the bike I will use in 2018, unless Yamaha decides something different."
