Vote for your BSN Roads Rider of the Year

It was another great year for pure roads racing, especially on the international scene but also in Ireland and at Scarborough too.

Alastair Seeley kicked off the international scene with a record-breaking 17th win at the Vauxhall North West 200, sharing the winner’s podium with Michael Dunlop and Ian Hutchison. Then, at the TT, it was the Hutchinson and Dunlop show as the Bingley Bullet took three victories to peg him level on 14 with Mike Hailwood. Dunlop won the Superbike and Senior races, and lap records were demolished by both.

Dean Harrison really came to the fore at the TT with impressive podium speed and he was also again the man to beat at Scarborough in 2016.

At the Ulster Grand Prix it was Tyco BMW’s Hutchinson who dominated, winning four races and at the season-ending Macau GP, Peter Hickman, who was fast again at the TT, who took victory for a second year running. In between, at the Southern 100, it was Michael Dunlop in charge.

Ivan Lintin was again a winner at the TT while Martin Jessopp stood on the podium at the North West, the TT and at Macau while Conor Cummins also saw a return to form.

Domestically, Derek Sheils was crowned Irish Roads Superbike Champion for the second time.
