Although exact details are scant, the World Endurance Championship is set to introduce a Supertwins category into next year’s calendar.
The move was announced today by the FIM and they say the class would allow twin-cylinder machines to enter the Endurance events and would be governed by relatively flexible technical regulations. Plus it would help to bring more new teams into the series.
Currently, most Supertwins classes are for 600cc-650cc twins, relatively-cheaply built and easy to maintain. However, having those on track with Superstock-spec litre sportbikes may take some getting used to…
