Brands BSB: Jones and Paasch split Motostar spoils

Dan Jones and Brandon Paasch shared the Hel Performance British Motostar wins this weekend as the latter boosted his championship lead.

City Lifting rider Jones dominated Saturday’s proceedings, but it was FPW Racing’s Paasch who stole the honours by over two seconds on Sunday.

Jones got a lightning start from third on the grid, quickly eclipsing pole-sitter Paasch who dropped down to eighth as Scott Swann and Asher Durham scrapped for second.

While Paasch eventually joined Swann, Durham and Victor Rodriguez in a four-way fight for second, Jones had already pulled almost six seconds clear of the field with just four laps completed.

With over 11 seconds to spare on the final lap, Jones crossed the line to take his first win of the year in dominant style as Paasch took second ahead of Durham, who emerged victorious from a battle with Swann and Rodriguez.

In the Standard class battle, Scott Ogden controlled proceedings as he took the flag over 13s clear of Cameron Horsman, who held off Charlie Farrer by 0.065s to take second.

Jones snagged pole for Sunday’s race, but it was Swann from the second row who blasted ahead of the pole-sitter as the pack headed down Paddock Hill.

But it was all change as Paasch scythed through on Nixon to take over third at Stirlings just before Jones slotted ahead of Swann at Clearways to take the lead.

Paasch soon nudged Swann back a place to take over second as the American began hunting down leader Jones, taking the lead at Paddock Hill on lap six as Rodriguez joined four-way fight for victory.

But Swann and Jones dropped out of the fight for victory at Westfield as they both crashed out in separate incidents, prompting race chiefs to deploy the safety car.

When the car left the circuit with five laps to go, Paasch held station at the front but Rodriguez, Durham, Nixon and Josh Whatley tagged onto the back of him to make it a five-rider train.

But it was smooth sailing for Paasch as he escaped to take victory by 2.035s while Nixon nipped second from Rodriguez and Durham.

Ogden once again destroyed the Standard class field with almost 26s to spare over Horsman and Franco Bourne.
