Alex Marquez has today been confirmed at Jorge Lorenzo’s replacement at Repsol Honda for MotoGP 2020.
It means he will join older brother Marc in the squad and leaves the door open for Johann Zarco to return to Moto2 with MarcVDS or to join the newly-upgraded Reale Avintia team.
A brief statement from HRC reads:
Honda Racing Corporation is pleased to announce the signing of double World Champion Alex Marquez. The young Spanish rider will join the Repsol Honda Team on a one-year contract.
He will move from the intermediate class to partner eight-time World Champion Marc Marquez in 2020 for his debut season in the premier class aboard the Honda RC213V.
The two Marquez brothers join Aleix and Pol Espargaro as siblings in the premier class, the first time a brace of brothers have raced in MotoGP at the same time.
