Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso has been voted the bikesportnews.com MotoGP Rider of the Year by a massive margin, polling more numbers than the rest of the field put together.
The Italian, who was runner-up to Marc Marquez in this year's championship, grabbed 43.56 per cent of reader votes with Johann Zarco in second place on 26.44 per cent and Honda's Marquez in third with 18.77 per cent.
In a bad year for Yamaha, Valentino Rossi came in fourth on 7.12 per cent while Britain's leading premier class rider Cal Crutchlow only scraped 1.78 per cent for fifth. Maverick Vinales was sixth with 0.96 per cent while Dani Pedrosa and Jonas Folger didn't get a single vote between them.
Jorge Lorenzo received only two votes while, amazingly, Danilo Petrucci only secured one more than his Ducati stablemate. Jack Miller received two votes while Andrea Iannone scored three, or 0.41 per cent.
BSN's poll was for the top 12 riders in the final championship standings.
