Aragon WorldSBK: Bautista bags Ducati's 350th win

Alvaro Bautista made his mark in Ducati’s history books today at Motorland Aragon by taking the Bologna marque’s 350th WorldSBK victory - and his ninth out of nine races.

The little Spaniard again cruised away from the opposition in front of his home crowd, leaving another whopping fight for the podium spots between Jonathan Rea, Chaz Davies, Alex Lowes and Leon Haslam.

Kawasaki’s Rea managed to clear a path for second place on the last lap, passing Davies but had been down to fourth the lap before as he was passed by team-mate Haslam.

The reigning BSB champion has had to contend with an infection in a split operation scar this weekend but gritted his teeth to take fourth on the second KRT ZX-10RR.

Lowes dropped back to finish fifth, almost four seconds down from the podium fight, after using up his rear tyre in the earlier exchanges.

Eugene Laverty (GoEleven Ducati) took sixth place, just ahead of three fighting riders, led home by the privateer bike of Jordi Torres (Pedercini Kawasaki).

Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha) placed eighth and Michael Rinaldi (Barni Ducati) ninth. The top ten was rounded out by Sandro Cortese (GRT Yamaha).

In the points Bautista is 39 ahead of Rea, a perfect 186 to a near perfect 147. Lowes is third, with 100 points.
