Assen BSB: Bridewell bounces back from crash disappointment

Oxford Racing Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell bounced straight back on to the Assen Bennetts British Superbike podium after crashing out of race one.

The Wiltshire rider went down at De Bult while challenging for the win but was able to stick his Panigale V4R in second place for race two after a hard battle with Fanny Buchan.

“I was disappointed for definite with race one for a number of reasons. I didn’t expect it as I lost it on the gas not on the brake, unloaded the front coming out of the corner,” said Bridewell, speaking at the track.

As always, credit to the Oxford Racing team they got it re-built but it took me a couple of laps in race two to get comfortable, to find the limit again.

“That might sound stupid but it’s quite hard to just go from a crash to leading the race again. It was dogfight at the start, I felt comfortable and watched my pitboard. At one point I got maybe half a second on Danny and then it was 0.1.

“Credit to him as I thought it was going to be between me and Scott but he rode a great race. The team has done a phenomenal job and we can keep smiling.”
