FS-3 Kawasaki's Danny Buchan kept his 2019 Bennetts British Superbike title hopes alive with a podium in the second race at Assen which puts him only a handful of points off third place.
Buchan lost his way with setup after free practice one but work from his team and some Tommy Bridewell caravanning in qualifying began a raceday rescue attempt which paid off as he claimed third in the second outing.
"It was a good start to the weekend, we had really good pace in first practice but lost our way a little bit until qualifying," said Buchan, speaking at the track.
I have to say thanks to Tommy for towing me round in qualifying to get me up there! We started race one in sixth, I got a little bit beaten up, dropped right back and had to fight through.
"Race two we made a few changes but started a little further back. We came on strongly but I was a little surprised by the pace. When Luke led the race, it backed everyone up, so that gave me a chance to pull in the guys in front.
"Towards the end, I was snapping at Tommy's heels, he was pushing for Josh and it brought me along with him. It shows how far as a team we have come with the Kawasaki."
