Assen BSB: Ryde tops Supersport opener as Toparis weighs in

Newly-crowned British GP2 king Kyle Ryde topped the opening Dickies Supersport practice at Assen this morning as wildcard Australian Tom Toparis made his presence felt in fifth place.

Ryde set a 1'40.081 to lead reigning champion Jack Kennedy 0.144s at the Dutch track with GP2 runner Mason Law in third place.

Oulton feature race winner Brad Jones took his Integro Yamaha to fourth place on a 1'40.796 to finish the morning 0.715s off the pace.

Toparis, who will partner Jones in an IDM wildcard team at Hockenheim, took his Benro Yamaha to fifth and is a second off the place.

Finnish rider Eemeli Lahti was sixth, Harry Truelove seventh, Charlie Nesbitt eighth, GP runner and Dutchman Jorel Boerboom ninth and Ross Patterson tenth.

Ben Wilson is back on the Gearlink Kawasaki but finished down in 19th, one place ahead of Rory Skinner.
