Astro JJR to field official Triumph Supersport squad

Astro JJR will field the official Triumph British Supersport team in 2022 with Shane Richardson and Rhys Irwin in the chairs.

Stuart Tromans and James Jackson know more than a thing or two about putting a quality team together and have joined forces with Triumph and the mighty Street Triple RS for the Hinckley factory’s official effort.

Kiwi-born Supersport and Superstock ace Richardson and mop-topped Irish boy Rhys Irwin are riding and, with the Street Triple RS now having a year’s race development under its belt, and a strong team behind this whole effort, 2022 holds real promise.

“At Triumph when we all got together for the first time, to see the size of the effort around you as a rider, it just feels like a really good place to be at this point in time for me. I’m very excited and quietly confident,” said Richardson.

“People have asked if I’ll need to change my riding for the triple but there are changes between every bike. We’ve got a great team and a good pre-season lined up - we’ll work through it all then.”

Irwin added: “It’s so good to be in this situation with a factory team and a great opportunity - I’m looking forward to grabbing it with both hands. It also helps me that the bike’s narrow because I’m pretty compact myself, the slimline setup feels good.”
