Bradl to stand-in for Lorenzo at home Sachsenring MotoGP round

German HRC test rider Stefan Bradl will stand-in for the crocked Jorge Lorenzo at his home Sachsenring race this weekend.

The German, who is also part of Honda’s works Suzuka Eight-Hours team, accepted the ride after Lorenzo’s crash put him out of Assen action last weekend.

I’m very excited to join the Repsol Honda Team in Germany. It’s a special race for me as my home race, obviously I am very sorry for Lorenzo and I wish him the fastest recovery possible and to come back strong.” said Bradl.

“I am glad to be able to help the team and HRC, let’s see what this weekend brings. We have been working well with Honda and I am grateful to them for this opportunity.”

It is not yet known what Lorenzo’s recovery time from his fractured vertbrae will be but no-one is expecting him to ride at Brno after the summer break.

The German rider has already raced once this year, in Jerez where he finished 10th, and has twice finished in the top five at the Sachsenring while riding a Honda in 2012 and 2013.
