Brands BSB: Kennedy takes red flag delayed Supersport pole

Jack Kennedy added to his Dickies British Supersport pole streak as he lapped just thousandths outside the existing record time, while red flags delayed action.

The Integro Yamaha rider set the quickest time of the weekend so far, just 0.009s off the record, but was forced to wait for it as early crashes played havoc.

Brad Jones took control early in qualifying as he led former champ Seeley by 0.171s, with GP2 front-runner Kyle Ryde almost a second further back.

But action was brought to a stop just five minutes into the session as Eugene McManus and Matt Wigley both hit the deck at Paddock Hill shortly before being carted off to the medical centre.

When the session resumed almost 25 minutes later, Kennedy and Seeley powered ahead of Jones to take over first and second.

Seeley pipped the championship leader for the top spot with just over nine minutes to go, but Kennedy snatched it right back a few laps later as he set the only 1’27 of the session, a mere 0.009s off Luke Stapleford’s 2015 lap record.

Late attempts by Seeley were to no avail and the EHA Yamaha man had to settle for second ahead of Jones.

Kovara RS Racing’s Ryde will lead the second row ahead of fellow GP2-mounted Jamie Perrin and Harry Truelove.
