Brands BSB: Rouse has Wright stuff, says Halsall team boss

Newcastle youngster Chrissy Rouse has been roundly praised by veteran team boss Colin Wright after taking two points-scoring finishes at the Brands Hatch British Superbike round.

Rouse jumped onboard the Halsall Suzuki after the squad parted company with Tommy Bridewell and, after a tough start at Knockhill, Rouse settled in by making it into qualifying two and then bagging 11th and 14th places.

“It’s been a good day and the improvements by everyone are clear to see. We need to remember that this was only our second race meeting together, it was just Chrissy’s second time on a Superbike and it’s been very much a case of us all still getting to know each other and how we all work,” said Wright.

“Chrissy has once again shown me that he has what it takes and deserves to be in this class.”

Rouse added: “I’m really happy, it’s been a fantastic weekend and I’m pleased with the results, particularly the first race. I thoroughly enjoyed both of the races as I feel I’ve learnt so much more about the bike.

“Of course, there is still a long way to go but I’m thrilled that I can take home points in just my second BSB race, and to know I was so close to the top 10 is a real boost for me.

“I’m definitely making good progress. I’m learning more about the Superbike and how I need to ride it to get the best from it, and the improvement from my first race a fortnight ago is clear. I’m really excited about doing it all over again at the next round.”
