Bridewell voted BSN Rider of the Year 2021

Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell may have been the bridesmaid in the BSB title fight for 2021 but his efforts were certainly reflected in the fan votes.

Bridewell beat tough competition from both British Superbike Champion, and Bikesportnews reader’s best British rider, Tarran Mackenzie and WorldSBK victor Toprak Razgatlioglu to claim both BSB and best overall rider honours for 2021.

The final round’s battling trio retained their position in BSN’s British Superbike rider of the year countdown with the Oxford Products rider claiming the victory this time around with an extra 10% of the vote from his rivals.

Championship winner Mackenzie took second from his McAMS Yamaha teammate Jason O’Halloran while Lee Jackson and Peter Hickman completed the top five.

With BSB rider of the season under his belt, Bridewell can also add best overall rider of 2021 to his roster thanks to the Bikesportnews readership.

A close battle with WorldSBK champ Razgatlioglu saw the pair separated by less than ten votes at the final count, while Mackenzie and MotoGP star Fabio Quartararo went toe to toe for third and fourth.

The Frenchman’s on track duelling partner Pecco Bagnaia completed the top five ahead of Jonathan Rea and Moto3 sensation Pedro Acosta with Valentino Rossi heading Peter Hickman and Remy Gardner in the top ten as the Italian veteran bowed out of his final competitive season on two wheels.
