Browne bags Mid-Antrim 150 pole

Mid-Antrim 150 newcomer Mike Browne set the quickest time around the 3.5-mile Clough Circuit setting a new unofficial new lap record.

Michael Sweeney set the early pace but on his final lap Browne upped the tempo putting in a lap almost half a second quicker than the Skerries man to put his Burrows Engineering/RK Racing Suzuki at the head of the grid in tomorrow's Superbike race.

Sweeney will start in second and Graham Kennedy third with a time 2.6 seconds behind the front pair.

With the Supersport Championship still up for grabs it was again a battle between Sweeney and Browne for the front spot on the grid.

Browne has a 14-point advantage going into tomorrow's races and should be favourite. It was Sweeney who topped the timesheets today with just a tenth of a second splitting him and Browne. Darryl Tweed was third quickest on his own bike after the Wilson Craig Honda Team withdrew from the meeting.

Sweeney who has already sewn up the 2022 Superbike and Supertwin championships was quickest in the Supertwins session setting a time 4 seconds ahead of Scotsman Kris Duncan.

Adding to his Superbike pole Mike Browne set the fastest time in the Moto3 class.

Pole men in the senior and Junior Support races are Kellim Ryan and Marcus Simpson.
Ryan also put his Faraldo racing 450 Yamaha in pole for the Lightweight Supersport/250 GP race.
