Cadwell BSB: Buchan aiming to shore up Showdown debut

FS-3 Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan is hoping to shore up his first-ever entrance into the Bennetts British Superbike Showdown with a big points haul at this weekend’s Cadwell Park round.

Buchan had a weekend to forget at Thruxton but is a big fan of the Lincolnshire circuit and is one of the mountain high-flyers.

“I’m feeling good for next weekend; Thruxton was one of those things and it wasn’t something I left there kicking myself for, it was down to the fact that I couldn’t have been in a worse place at a worse time,” said the Essex Nando’s ambassador.

“I qualified in ninth and I wasn’t too fussed because I knew we had a good pace but it just didn’t work out for us in the races. Knockhill we were good enough for the podium and then Brands Hatch we had two eighth places so you just don’t know what to expect until we get to raceday.

“I am sixth at the moment but I am not getting too caught up in all of the points and what can happen. I haven’t been in the Showdown before and at the moment it is there for the taking and I want it to stay that way. We have some improvements for the next round but everyone is so close; that is what makes this championship one of the best in the world.

“Cadwell Park is a bit like Knockhill, rather than Thruxton so hopefully we can be in a good position to be back fighting for the podiums at the weekend. I would like to think I had my bad luck at Thruxton, so I am looking forward to next weekend.”
