Cadwell BSB: TAG Honda parts ways with Tito Rabat

Tito Rabat will take no further part in the remainder of the Cadwell Park British Superbike weekend after agreeing to part ways with TAG Honda following Saturday free practice.

The 2014 Moto2 World Champion was a high-profile addition to the BSB grid last time out at Thruxton after being called up to replace iForce BMW-bound Luke Mossey.

However, the Spaniard - who is currently leading the Spanish Superbike Championship (ESBK) on a Honda CBR1000RR-R - struggled to get to grips with the high-speed Hampshire venue, qualifying 3.3 seconds off the pace and finishing last in two of the three races he completed.

With fortunes failing to improve at Cadwell Park as he brought up the rear in both of Saturday's free practice sessions, the team confirmed on Twitter that Rabat will step down for the remainder of the event.

“It’s been our pleasure to work with Tito Rabat, and his focus remains on winning the Spanish Superbike Championship,” the statement confirmed.

“He will take no further part in the Cadwell Park event this weekend, but we have enjoyed working together both at Thruxton and during the two days we have had here.”

Shaun Winfield - who races the TAG Honda in the National Superstock class - doubled up in both classes for FP3 in Rabat’s place.
