Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon believes the grip problems he and team-mate Michael Laverty experienced at Thruxton will not rear their head at this weekend’s Cadwell Park Bennetts British Superbike round.

Both S1000RRs ran out of rear tyre and pair took home six points between them, but Iddon says he isn’t thinking about the points situation right now.

He is 20 points behind Danny Buchan in sixth place and has five races to overhaul the oversized Essex gangsta, innit…

“Cadwell Park should be a better round for us; the problems we had at Thruxton shouldn’t be an issue next weekend and we have a good idea on a starting point for free practice as we did have a test there, although it was cut short. We have some areas we need to work on and then I need to push on from my side so that we do the best that we can – which is always my aim at every race, whether it is round one or the last race of the season,” said Iddon.

“I am not looking at the points as it is an unnecessary thing to do; I have to race as hard as I can and then what happens over the next five races is what will decide if we are in the Showdown or not. I always give it my all in every session and every race; last year it was just short, so I really want to make it a different story this year.

“Cadwell Park is definitely one of those places when if it is going right, and you feel confident it is one of the best circuits on the calendar, but if the set-up isn’t right and you don’t get the feeling it can be the most difficult too. It is so technically demanding but you can also make big steps forward. I think last year our pace was better than the results showed; we want to move up the order next weekend so we are going to go out and give it our best shot.”
