Joe Collier enjoyed his first taste of ZX-10RR action when he took in a four-day shakedown test with his all-new CPD Kawasaki team, who will compete in the Pirelli National 1000cc Superstock Championship in 2019.
Collier was joined by team-mate Luke Hedger for the test and the pair were pleased with how the bike has already progressed.
“Yeah, I’m really pleased how we got on and how the team gelled to be honest. The Kawasaki is a great package and has already shown me how strong it will be in every department coming into the 2019 season,” said Collier.
“We still have a number of things to advance and perfect at CPD Kawasaki, but overall, having ridden other packages in the class, both at the end of 2017 and also last year, I was already smiling inside my helmet knowing how competitive we will be on the ZX-10RR.
“We are a completely new team and probably unknown to many within the BSB structure, but both Luke [Hedger] and I were really impressed with how things operated at the Cartagena test. We left Spain very happy in the knowledge, that we are already close to being ready for the start of the season mid April.
“Having Luke in the team is also beneficial. In that I mean, the guys in the garage have two experienced riders to work with and from my point of view, it helps having another front-running rider to help share the workload with in terms of set up. All team data will be shared, and that can only help us both as the season progresses at CPD Kawasaki.
“Thanks must go to team owner Chris Cunnington for putting a system in place, that allowed us to test so early in the year, especially as it was so well organised and constructive – and of course a big shout out to my dad who does so much work in the background; Jeff at KGN who accompanied us on the Spanish trip and my loyal personal and product sponsors.“
