Twelve-year-old Max Cook is set to join legendary motorcycling names including Casey Stoner as he looks poised to become the youngest ever Aprilia Superteens Championship at Donington this weekend.

Cook is the circuit’s Little Racers ambassador and the series has become a proving ground for the world’s best motorcycle racers, with former MotoGP World Champion Stoner one of the names to have raced in the championship. Sam and Alex Lowes also began their careers in the series, as did World Superbike frontrunners Tom Sykes, Leon Camier and Chaz Davies.
 
Now  is set to join this prestigious list, requiring just a top seven finish in one of the four races for the series this weekend, in order to clinch the title at the ThundersportGB round.
 
“I’m really excited to ride at Donington this weekend, especially as we’re on the full circuit” he said. “I used to watch all my favourite riders at Donington, like Scott Redding when he was younger. I’ve ridden the National Circuit already this year which was my first time here, and I loved it, the weather looks brilliant this weekend too.”
 
Should Cook win the title this weekend, he will be the youngest champion in the series’ long history: “I’m really hoping to win the championship this weekend, if I do it, then I’m the youngest Superteen champion in history. I only need to finish in the top seven in one more race and I will have done it.
 
“It would mean a lot to me to win the championship, I’ve worked hard in each race to get the best result. I’ll be relieved as well, which means I can think about lap records and enjoy my riding even more.
 
“Long term I want to be a MotoGP rider, in a factory team and win the world championship and race for as long as I can.”
