Donington GP BSB: Race weekend statistics, facts and pub ammo

Statistics, facts and pub ammo for this weekend’s Bennetts British Superbike round at Donington GP:

Victory in the third race at Oulton Park two weeks ago was Josh Brookes’ 51st career win in the British Superbike Championship, moving him to outright second on the all-time winner’s list, one ahead of Ryuichi Kiyonari.

Third place in the final race at Oulton Park was Lee Jackson’s first BSB podium since Cadwell Park in 2017 and just the second in his career.

Eight different riders have won races in 2020 with ten different riders having stood on the podium.

Only four riders have scored points in every race to take place so far in 2020 – Jason O’Halloran, Christian Iddon, Tommy Bridewell and Lee Jackson.

Andrew Irwin’s two wins at Donington Park earlier this year were the first for Honda at the venue since 2013.

BMW have now gone 24 races without recording a BSB podium, their last one coming with Peter Hickman at Thruxton in August last year.

With seven podiums in 2020, Jason O’Halloran has already matched his previous season’s best tally, which came in 2016.

Donington has hosted 66 BSB races with those races seeing 23 different race winners and 45 different riders stand on the podium.

Ducati was the only manufacturer to be represented on the podium in the two BSB races held on the 2.5-mile Donington Park GP circuit in 2019.

Only four riders in this weekend’s entry have previously won BSB races at Donington Park – Josh Brookes, Bradley Ray and Andrew Irwin (all 2) and Tommy Bridewell (1).

Shane Byrne has won more BSB races (8) at Donington than any other rider and is followed by Niall Mackenzie and John Reynolds (both 6), Scott Redding (5) and Chris Walker, Michael Rutter, Ryuichi Kiyonari and Leon Haslam (all 4).

Bradley Ray took his first and only BSB victories at Donington Park in 2018 when he took a double race victory.

Ten of the last eleven BSB rounds at Donington Park have seen double victories – John Hopkins (2011), Josh Brookes (2012), Alex Lowes (2013), Ryuichi Kiyonari (2014), Shane Byrne (2016), Leon Haslam (2017), Bradley Ray (2018), Scott Redding (2019) and Andrew Irwin (2020).

John Reynolds and Shane Byrne have taken the most podiums (16) at Donington followed by Leon Haslam (12), Chris Walker (10), Niall Mackenzie and Steve Hislop (both 9) and Michael Rutter, James Haydon, Ryuichi Kiyonari and Josh Brookes (all 8).

Sixth place in the opening race at Donington Park in May 2019 remains Hector Barbera’s best ever result in BSB.

Jason O’Halloran will make his 150th BSB race start in the second race at Donington Park.

Christian Iddon is set to make his 150th BSB race start in the third race this weekend.

Lee Jackson will make his 100th BSB start this weekend, also in the third race.

Sixth place in race one at Donington Park earlier this year is Luke Mossey’s highest finish to date in 2020.

Ducati is the most successful manufacturer at Donington Park with 31 wins followed by Yamaha (11), Suzuki (8), Kawasaki (7), Honda (7) and BMW (2).

Ducati last won at Donington Park in August 2020 with Tommy Bridewell.

Andrew Irwin’s double victory in August 2020 is the last time Honda won at Donington.

Suzuki last won at Donington in 2018 with Bradley Ray.

Kawasaki last won at Donington in 2017 with Leon Haslam.

BMW were last victorious at Donington in 2014 when Ryuichi Kiyonari won both races.

James Ellison gave Yamaha their last victory at Donington in 2009.
