Donington GP BSB: Supersport king Skinner 'keeping championship in back of mind'

Runaway Quattro British Supersport leader Rory Skinner can wrap up the title in Saturday’s sprint race at Donington Park which will also give his Tysers Yamaha team their fourth consecutive championship trophy.

Keith Farmer won it in 2017 for the Appleyard-run squad which paved the way for Jack Kennedy to take two big trophies in consecutive years. Skinner should wrap up the fourth sometime over the weekend.

“I really enjoy Donington and looking forward to get going. The championship is obviously in the back of my mind but I’ll just take the weekend session by session just like I have all season and see where we end up,” said Skinner.

Team owner Robin Appleyard added: ““We like a bit of history so when we realised we’d taken our 50th win at Oulton Park our attention moved to title number four at Donington this weekend.

Obviously it’s a nice situation as we don’t have to worry about team orders so Rory and Brad can push each other for the win and give the fans at home another great battle.

“The riders and team are so well attuned to each other now, it’s a joy to watch their sector times coming down in each session as everyone pushes for that perfect lap, race and title!

“A massive thanks to all our long term supporters; especially Doug Macadam and the team from Tysers, hopefully we can reward their faith again this weekend.”
