Ducati CEO thrashes into Bautista over salary offer

Ducati chief operating officer Claudio Domenicali has pulled departing WorldSBK rider Alvaro Bautista’s pants down in a very public Twitter thrashing.

Domenicale has said his firm offered Bautista a six-figure salary to remain a Panigale V4R rider but apparently it was ‘not enough’.

“Bau Bau says he left Ducati for Honda when we decided for Scott, and it was not for the money,” wrote Domenicale this morning.

“But we made him an offer with six zero in two years and he refused, he wanted more, nothing else. Life is about choices.”

Bautista has been confirmed with Honda for 2020 at what looks like at least a million Euro salary - not bad for someone who is over their career hump.
