Aruba Ducati have been penalised for their runaway WorldSBK success with a drop of 250rpm on the Panigale V4R’s rev limit at this weekend’s Assen round.
Alvaro Bautista has won all nine races so far at a canter so FIM technical director Scott Smart has fed all the information into his algorithm and the penalty has been served.
The Panigale V4R’s rev limit is now 16,100 but that also applies to Chaz Davies, Eugene Laverty and Michael Rinaldi.
At the other end of the scale, Honda’s performance has been so woeful, the HRC-backed Moriwaki team have been given a 500rpm increase in an effort to give Leon Camier at least a plastic pirate’s sword to take to the gunfight.
“At the conclusion of the third round, the concession points scores see the top two manufacturers Ducati and Kawasaki at the top of the table. Due to the gap of only seven points (20-13) neither will be allowed a concession parts upgrade during the season. The remaining manufacturers will all be allowed one upgrade,” said an FIM statement.
“Special consideration has been applied in the case of BMW after declaring their concession parts, chose to compete in the first two events using a standard engine.
“This is compliant with the regulations and therefore the weighting of the calculation has been biased towards their performance during the third event where the concession specification engine was used.”
