Former MotoGP rider James Ellison takes the step to Team Manager for 2022 as he joins Powerslide Catfoss Racing in BSB.
The Stoke-on-Trent based team, who debuted in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship for their first full campaign in 2021 with Bjorn Estment, confirmed their 2022 return by announcing an extended relationship with Hawk Racing, the team behind the official factory Buildbase Suzuki outfit.
Ellison, a double European Superstock and World Endurance champion, has extensive knowledge of the British series both as competitor and rider coach in recent years but 2022 will see his first season in the management role.
“We have James Ellison as a new team manager, and as an experienced rider in the series for several years, his input will also be another step forward,” Powerslide Team Owner Brad Clarke confirmed.
“After a successful debut season, where we over achieved all our original targets we decided to extend our relationship with Hawk Racing, who were massively involved with our development last year,” Clarke continued.
“We are looking on how we can continue to improve in our second season, and working with Hawk Racing and their extensive knowledge of the Suzuki in Bennetts BSB can only be a positive.
“I really just want to thank Steve and the team at Hawk Racing for this collaboration. Last season’s work would not have been achieved if it wasn’t for linking up with them - working with the official factory team, who are proven race winners is a huge boost for us. We look forward to announcing the rest of our plans in the coming weeks.”
