Former champ Toseland backs Redding to push Rea for WorldSBK title

Two-time WorldSBK Champion James Toseland has backed reigning BSB king Scott Redding to push Jonathan Rea for this year’s title.

Toseland, who is managing Danny Webb and the Wepol WorldSSP Team, believes that Redding and the Ducati Panigale V4R can give the five-time champion a thin time in 2020.

“I think Scott Redding has got a definite chance of pushing Jonathan for the championship this year. But there’s still a couple of tracks that Scott has not done much time on, but are we going to go to those?” said Toseland.

“If we don’t go to those, the Scott and Jonathan battle could be amazing.”

Toseland won one of his titles with Honda but thinks the new Blade needs a little more development time before they are competitive.

“The new Hondas are going to be difficult to beat Jonathan because although they’re very fast, they don’t seem to be putting the power down very easily, it looks a bit aggressive.”
