Get ready for the bonkers 2019 Weston Beach Race

Every autumn the Weston-Super-Mare seafront comes alive with the sound and smell of engines, combined with a buzzing, electric atmosphere as riders and race-fans head to the beach in the build-up to the biggest motorsport event in the UK – the Weston Beach Race.

Taking place on October 18-20 this year, the 37th running of this incredible, yet slightly mad event, is once again not to be missed as amateur riders will compete with the professionals on a massive sand race-track during a special, family orientated event weekend.

Organisers RHL Activities have created an incredibly memorable event for all of the family with plenty to see and do including demonstrations from trials legend Dougie Lampkin, rider signings from some of the best athletes on the planet, shopping, quad demos, trade stands and much more. This exciting weekend combines plenty of things to see and do along with its world-famous race starts that are certainly not to be missed!

Taking on the Weston Beach Race is no mean feat – riders from juniors to adults are faced with a dune course that has obstacles as big as the average house, combined with a crazy-long, flat-out sprint straight right down the beach.

For some it’s a struggle to get to end of the first lap, let alone the finish, and in the main solo race over 1,000 competitors start the event, but there can only be one winner. As they blast down the beach, it’s an amazing spectacle as riders battle the course and each other for three-hours of insane, high-octane racing action.

The event annually attracts a big crowd who witness the thrills, spills and well, the downright bonkers with a jam-packed race schedule with competitors who are often riding for charity and sporting some fancy dress. Quads, sidecars and a variety of motorbikes take part in the races, where the main goal is often just getting to the finish.

For 2019 the adult solo race will see stars such as World Enduro Super Series champion Billy Bolt, European Motocross Champion Mel Pocock, North West 200 race winner and Isle of Man TT podium finisher James Hillier line-up to take on the super-tough dune course.

It’s a race where experience is certainly key, and the hotly contested solo event will definitely be one to watch in 2019. A very special guest from across the water will also be attending the event this year - ‘the world’s fastest racer’ and American star Ronnie Mac, who is well known for his incredible racing antics and bike skills, will be making a special appearance throughout the event weekend with his famous ‘screaming eagle’ Honda bike.
