Hickman 'massively disappointed' to lose TT 2021

Isle of Man TT lap record holder Peter Hickman is disappointed to lose another race week to the Covid19 pandemic and thinks organisers may have jumped the gun.

The FHO Racing rider, who will still compete in British Superbikes next season, says the gap from 2019 to 2022 is very big in terms of riding practice.

"I’m massively disappointed as the TT is a huge part of my year, and career, obviously. With all the positive news recently with regards to a vaccine, part of me can’t help but think the organisers have jumped the gun a bit," Hickman told bikesportnews.com.

"I obviously understand the reasons why the IOM Government have taken the decision but I think we all thought we’d be back in 2021.

"At the end of the day we all want to go racing and as well as being disappointing for myself, it’s also disappointing for the FHO Racing team who were eagerly looking forward to the TT. We’ll all have to wait another year now but if the Classic TT goes ahead, that’s something I’ll have to look at in 2021.

"The gap from 2019 to 2022 is a big one and I’ll need to get some laps in - I can’t really go to the TT in 2022 not having ridden on the Mountain Course for three years. I’ll just have to see what happens."
