Oxford Ducati British Superbike star Tommy Bridewell is on his way to Gatwick Airport in order to stand-in for Eugene Laverty at the Imola WorldSBK round.

Laverty broke both wrists in a crash at Acque Minerale this morning and is on his own way to Barcelona Hospital.

Bridewell has some experience of the Italian track after riding for the Supersonic team and says he is really looking foward to the opportunity.

Oxford Ducati boss Steve Moore is accompanying Bridewell, who is joint leader of the BSB points table, on the trip.
