Ducati’s factory WorldSBK team debuted a MotoGP-syle rain scoop in the wet morning warm-up at Imola.
The manufacturer caused a storm at the Qatar when it introduced a ‘tyre cooler’ and after getting it cleared by a legal hearing, everyone else in the class has followed suit.
Yamaha’s MotoGP team put a rain scoop on their M1 at the Austrian round last year and it is believed this is what gave Ducati’s technical chief Gigi Dall’Igna the idea.
Update: WorldSBK technical director Scott Smart has confirmed to bikesportnews.com that Ducati have been told the scoop is outside the rules and cannot use it
