Jenkinson and Hornsey dominate Anglesey Grand

Wirral Hundred’s iconic end-of-season ‘ifm-moto.com Anglesey Grand’ meeting attracted its highest entry ever, and saw the two 12-lap legs of the feature races dominated by National Superstock 1000 front-runner Adam Jenkinson on his Northern Escalator BMW and leading British Supersport contender Sam Hornsey, having only his second ride on an Infront GSXR Suzuki.

Hornsey was on pole position for the first leg but Jenkinson took an early lead and won by two seconds; Hornsey had set the fastest lap in the first leg and therefore was again on pole position for the second leg, but this time Jenkinson was not able to break away and in a memorable race the lead changed several times but Hornsey just hung on at the end to win the leg by two-tenths, Jenkinson therefore being the victor on aggregate.

Johnny Blackshaw (Accident Advice Solicitors Yamaha) was a safe third in both legs, but the very impressive best of the rest and the fastest 600 was local rider Jamie Harris (600 Yamaha), followed by Matthew Jones (Fireball Racing Kawasaki) and Chris Barnes (AP Broome Kawasaki). Dean Harrison made his debut at the circuit aboard his Classic TT 750 Kawasaki and his times in the Golden Era races were sufficient to grant him an invitation to ride in the Grand, finishing a very creditable 11th overall.
