Fabio Quartararo got in another morning of testing with the first 2020-spec Yamaha MotoGP engine today at Jerez and set some blisteringly fast laptimes on used tyres but he still doesn't have the feeling he needs.
The young Frenchman isn't giving too much away about the differences between this engine and the 2019 but did reveal the way the engine puts its power to the tarmac has been adjusted.
It’s different power delivery, let’s say. Maybe it is more smooth. But it’s difficult to explain. You see it more in the data than in my feeling," said Quartararo, speaking at the track.
“But for me the lap time we did also this morning with 28 laps on the tyre I made a 38.1s. That means we are riding really well. But we are not feeling so comfortable like we were with the other bike. So this is something that we need to work on and hope to feel better about.
“I don’t want people to get angry with me, especially at the back of the garage. So this is what I can say. But of course it’s not in a bad way. The most important thing is the pace, and the pace we have it. The most important thing that I can say is working on the power delivery that is really important for my feeling.”
