Kennedy targets fourth BSS title with Mar-Train Yamaha

Jack Kennedy is targeting his fourth Quattro Group British Supersport Championship in 2022 as he join forces with Mar-Train Yamaha.

The three-time champion claimed the 2021 crown as part of the HEL Performance /Bournemouth Kawasaki team, but 2022 sees him return to the Northern Ireland based outfit he last rode for in 2012 - claiming the runners-up spot.

Mar-Train Yamaha last won the Supersport title with Stuart Easton in 2013, coming second the year after with Alastair Seeley before making the switch to concentrate on the roads. 2021 saw the team return to the BSB paddock, supporting Co. Down’s Korie McGreevy.

The reinvigorated full championship challenge for 2022, sees Team Principal, Tim Martin, building a new team around Kennedy with Andy Jamison as the reigning champion’s crew chief, and Kev Stephenson in charge of tuning the R6 Yamahas.

“I want to make it four championships now,” a determined Kennedy confirmed. “I want to retain my title and joining Mar-Train gives me the best possible opportunity of doing that. No one gets tired of winning. I never get complacent and I am always trying to improve, otherwise your rivals will get the upper hand when you least expect it.”

“We are moving back into the championship, running our own team, with our own personnel,” Martin confirmed. “We want to give ourselves the best shot at winning races and a championship.

“Although we spoke to a few riders, Jack was always our number one target. We all know what to expect now and it is a bonus to have an Irish rider in the team.”
