Knockhill BSB: ‘It’s going to be even faster tomorrow’ - Dixon

Jake Dixon says he expects lap times will tumble further across the weekend as the temperatures look set to soar at Knockhill.

Clearly surprised at the hot air and track temperatures which greeted the Bennetts British Superbike riders as the fifth round got underway at the Scottish track, the RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki rider believes there is still a lot more to come.

Dixon, who was just a 0.005secs off the time of best mate Danny Buchan in today’s second free practice session, admits it’s been a case of so far, so good.

“It’s hot – really hot, especially for Knockhill which I wasn’t expecting,” he told Bikesport News. “But no, it’s good. The track is a lot faster than last year, it’s about a second quicker.

“The way it’s going, I’d say it’s going to be even faster tomorrow in qualifying when people start to do their lap times so yeah, I think it’s going to be fun.”

After taking both wins at the Fife track last year, Dixon has been tipped among the pre-race favourites.

However, he refuses to be drawn on whether he can double up again this time out.

“I’d say I’m hoping that we can bring back two solid podiums again this year and continue to keep racking up the good results,” he added.

“I don’t feel any extra pressure just because I won twice last year. I look at it as every round I want to win, but what will be, will be. Whoever wins, wins and when my time is right, then I’ll win.”
