Bennetts British Superbike series leader Brad Ray bagged pole postion at Knockhill this lunchtime despite only getting six laps in yesterday but was pushed hard by Yamaha stablemate Jason O’Halloran.
The Rich OMG man set a 47.131s lap to claim top spot in Scotland with the McAMS jockey only 0.005s in arrears. Lee Jackson was third, a quarter of a second further back.
A frantic second session began with Ray instantly launching out of the eBay pit lane for a time attack, and he didn’t disappoint as he went to the top of the times for the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha team.
Lee Jackson had been holding second place for the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki team, but O’Halloran was on the attack, missing out by the narrowest of margins at the chequered flag for McAMS Yamaha. That pushed Jackson into third as he claimed his first front row qualifying start of the season.
Danny Buchan heads the second row for BMW ahead of Rory Skinner, he was another rider to crash out during the session on the second of the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasakis. Kyle Ryde completes row two, pushing Glenn Irwin back into seventh.
Christian Iddon was eighth for the Buildbase Suzuki team with Tommy Bridewell and Josh Brookes completing the top ten.
It was a disaster for the second McAMS Yamaha as defending champion Tarran Mackenzie crashed out at turn one during Q1.
