Knockhill BSB: 'Work to do in crucial areas' - Sykes

MCE Ducati's Tom Sykes again showed a good turn of pace in the wet at Knockhill's Bennetts British Superbike round but, as at Oulton, when the track dried the Huddersfield man's Panigale V4R package was left wanting.

Sykes had been top five in the first and soaking practice of the weekend but, unlike team-mate Josh Brookes, was  only able to challenge the top ten once in three races.

“The weekend started off well and despite not riding here for so long, I felt at home in the Tom Sykeswet conditions on Friday," said Sykes.

"I was fastest for the most part and I felt really comfortable but despite me doing a rain dance, it was dry conditions that prevailed and that’s where we are struggling.

"There are lots of areas that the MCE Ducati is really good in, but in a couple of crucial ones, we have a lot of work to do.

"It's tough and I’m finding I’m not able to perform to my best ability but hopefully we can find an improvement soon.”
