Lascorz hits first target in Dakar quest

The crowdfunding initiative ‘Joan Al Dakar’ raising funds for Joan Lascorz in his debut in the Dakar Rally, has managed to reach its first goal of €15,000.

Less than a fortnight since the campaign began on December 9th, the team is already at the level needed to finance the race as ex-WorldSBK rider Lascorz prepares to become the first tetraplegic driver to compete in the demanding Dakar Rally.

With the minimum target reached, the campaign’s remaining contributions will focus on spare parts, technical staff, health care, facilities during stages and additional requirements for Lascorz during the competition taking place in early January 2022.

The current riders from the Spaniard’s former WorldSBK KRT team, Jonathan Rea, Alex Lowes and Ana Carrasco are supporting the campaign alongside countrymen Marc Márquez, Pol Espargaró, Alex Rins and Pedro Acosta.

The crowdfunding via Verkami, JoanAlDakar.com will remain active until January 8th, including all originally publicised incentives to join the team ranging from becoming part of the Lascorz buggy livery, team T-shirts and access to exclusive video-blogs from the Dakar 2022.

Lascorz’ journey and preparation for the Dakar Rally also features in the documentary ‘Una carrera inaccesible’ (An inaccessible career), which will premiere on December 23rd at 22:00 on the #Vamos channel of the Movistar + platform.
