Le Mans 24-hour: No serious injuries for Smith

FIM Endurance World Championship has confirmed Bradley Smith received no serious injuries in this afternoon’s starting incident at Le Mans.

Smith was involved in a collision as the riders were released for the 24-hour race as both his and the pole-sitting YART Yamaha R1’s struggled to fire up. The Moto Ain rider was hit by Christopher Seigneur as he pulled away, with cameras showing substantial impact to his right leg and fears suspecting a broken tibia.

Having received immediate medical attention at the side of the track while the field circulated under safety car conditions, the former MotoGP rider was transferred to hospital for further checks.

Official confirmation cleared Smith of any serious injuries but the 31-year-old will remain in hospital for a period of observation.
