Dan Linfoot has signed to ride for the TAG Racing squad in 2019’s Bennetts British Superbike series and will partner incumbent Shaun Winfield for the season.

Linfoot spent a good deal of 2018 on the injury list after losing another battle with Brands Hatch and at the Assen round, began talks with various teams before settling on the family-run TAG outfit, which took Josh Brookes to second in the championship two seasons ago.

“Last year a disastrous season for me so I’m really happy to have agreed a deal for 2019 with a new team, providing a new challenge and a new feeling on a different bike. Hopefully we can have success this season and both get back to the results that we know we are both capable of,” said Linfoot.

"I’ve ridden a Yamaha in the past, albeit a different model, and it’s got handlebars and brakes and whatever. I won’t be able to comment on how different it is until I’ve ridden it but I’ve followed them on track.

“I think they require a smooth riding style and I don’t think I’m a particularly aggressive rider even though the previous bike made it look that way. It will just require some time to get familiar with.

“I’m looking forward to starting testing. I’ll hopefully get to ride the bike early into the new year but for now it is nice to know that I’m going to be part of the grid once again and I’ll be looking to build on some success I’ve had in previous seasons.

Linfoot will not be limited to BSB duties in 2019 and has his eye on the longer term already.

“TAG are being very flexible with other things, which is refreshing after the last couple of years, and I am hoping to do some World Endurance events. It’s an interest I have and I hope to do some more of them in the future.”
