Monteblanco BSB test: Brookes back in charge

VisionTrack Ducati’s Josh Brookes is back at the top of the Monteblanco test timesheets at lunchtime on day two of the official Bennetts British Superbike test.

The Australian former champion stamped his authority on proceedings with half an hour of the morning session to go, setting a 1’37.424 which removed Massingberd Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan from the lead.

Buchan had put in a 1’37.659 to go fastest and then better it with a 1’37.538 but Brookes had his measure as the lunchbreak loomed in southern Spain.

Yesterday’s pace-setter Jason O’Halloran was two-tenths behind Brookes in third place with youngster Ryan Vickers continuing to impress in only his second season. The RAF Reserves Kawasaki kid sits in fourth on a 1’37.720.

Hector Barbera is the quickest of the BMW runners in fifth with Oxford Racing Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell brushing off a tumble yesterday to put in a 1’37.924 for sixth place.

Luke Mossey took his Rich OMG BMW to seventh, one ahead of Christian Iddon’s Ducati. Peter Hickman and Jack Kennedy completed the top ten.

Storm Stacey, who hadn’t ridden a Superbike before yesterday morning, is edging closer to the top men, finishing this morning in 14th and 1.5s off the pace on his GR Motosport Kawasaki and only 0.028s behind Lee Jackson who is on the official ZX-10RR.
