MotoGP Argentina: Two errors cost Crutchlow in qualifying

LCR Honda MotoGP rider Cal Crutchlow admitted that two mistakes in the same corner prevented him from qualifying any higher than eighth position for tomorrows Argentine Grand Prix in Termas de Rio Hondo.

The Brit looked one of the few riders capable of challenging Marc Marquez in qualifying, however, a lack of grip from the rear of the bike and two mistakes in turn nine both prevented the Brit from challenging the front two rows.

“I’m very disappointed today with the result of qualifying,” said Crutchlow.

On my final run I didn’t have a great feeling with my rear tyre grip and I couldn’t properly stop the bike anywhere in many of the corners. I made two mistakes, both in turn nine, and so I didn’t manage to better my time from the first run.”

Despite starting from the middle of the third row, Crutchlow remains confident that with the race pace he’s shown over the weekend, that he can challenge up the sharp end of the field.

“We have to look at the situation for tomorrow now, I’m eighth on the grid and I have to be ready to fight at the start of the race,” he said.

“It will make for a difficult race, but I’m optimistic and I’m looking forward to it. We know our pace is good and we’re working hard to be competitive tomorrow.”
