Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Pedro Acosta headed for surgery on Thursday instead of the TT Circuit Assen.

Following a motocross training accident on Tuesday which resulted in a multifragmented fracture to his left femur, the Moto2 rider received surgery at the Hospital Universitari Dexeus, in Barcelona, on Thursday morning.

The operation was carried out by Dr. Ignacio Ginebreda of the Orthopedic and Traumatology Department at ICATME, alongside his team. The surgery was deemed a success and Acosta will begin a functional recovery programme within 24 hours, with the five week summer break perfectly placed ahead of the retuning round at Silverstone in early August.
