Assen’s MotoGP round is under serious threat after the Dutch prime minister extended the country’s ban on mass outdoor events until September 1.
The Circuit van Drenthe race was due to go ahead on June 28 but that is now impossible and weekends in October are pretty thin on the ground. Weather in the Netherlands during November would be chilly at best and snowing at worst.
“These are difficult considerations but it’s a question of better safe than sorry,” Prime Minster Mark Rutte said. “We have to be very cautious.”
