MotoGP Austin: Dixon disappointed with qualifying performance - ‘it wasn't ideal’

Shimoku GASGAS Aspar’s Jake Dixon starts his second consecutive Moto2 race from the second row after claiming sixth at COTA on Saturday.

Dixon’s preparation for the Americas Grand Prix got off to a flying start after he headed the final free practice on Saturday morning with a 2’09.004 effort to command the combined times.

The Brit was unable to replicate the pace in the afternoon’s qualifying, however, with just one hot lap executed in the final action as he was forced to settle for sixth overall. His 2'09.434 lap lines the 25-year-old up at the edge of the second row behind teammte Albert Arenas for another double attack from the Aspar squad on American soil.

“We could have achieved much more, but I was only able to take advantage of one flying lap and it wasn't ideal,” a disappointed Dixon admitted from the Austin paddock.

“Anyway, the race is tomorrow and we start from the second row. We'll see what we can achieve.”
