Britain’s Moto3 pairing of Danny Kent and John McPhee battled with each other and reigning Red Bull Rookies Champion Karel Hanika in today’s Moto3 race at Austin’s MotoGP round and came away with eighth and ninth places respectively.
The trio were all over each other from lap six until the end with Husqvarna’s Kent finally winning out over the RGT Honda of McPhee. Both benefitted from the crash of Alex Marquez, who lobbed it out of fourth at turn 19 on the last lap. Kent was just 0.051s ahead of McPhee at the chequered flag,
As in Qatar, the race was won by Red Bull KTM’s Jack Miller who fended off a last-ditch charge from Sky VR46’s Romano Fenati in the closing stages while Efren Vasquez, who is McPhee’s team mate, rounded out the podium. Fans were treated to more 'goon riding' and stand-up wheelies from Miller, who is a star.
