MotoGP Brno: Aprilia planning big changes for 2020

Aprilia MotoGP technical chief Romano Albesiano has revealed the team are planning some big changes for the 2020 season as they have found the limit of what they can do with the current RS-GP.

Aleix Espargaro, and to a much lesser extend Andrea Iannone, have done as much as they can do with the current model, so Albesiano believes it is time to make a 'big step' for next year.

“For sure for the future, we are planning something really different from what we have now. We have found the limit to our solution in many areas and we have decided this time to make a really big step for next season," said Albesiano.

"We have not done the step we are still waiting for. With Aleix Espargaro, we are experiencing an average expectation of results.

"We have 3 DNFs from Aleix, when without those DNFs we would be inside the top ten. With Andrea Iannone, we are still struggling with the rider adaptation and with each other so this is the situation now.

"We have done a lot of work, the bike has improved a lot engine wise, chassis wise, weight and aerodynamics too.”
