MotoGP Buriram: Bezzecchi takes pole as Martin struggles

Marco Bezzecchi stormed to his second ever pole position to keep himself firmly in the title race, as Moto3 World Championship leader Jorge Martin struggled with his left wrist.

After feeling his way into the session, Bezzecchi waited until the final lap of the session to snatch a maiden pole position away from the surprise package of Kazuki Masaki.

Despite not getting a slip stream down to the second corner, Bezzecchi had the pace and found himself over three tenths up at the half way point. Despite then catching some traffic, Bezzecchi still managed to do a 1:42.235 which was nearly half a second clear of the field.

Jaume Masia secured his second consecutive second position start just 0.019 seconds ahead of Masaki.

Tony Arbolino will start from fourth position and head the second row from compatriot Nico Antonelli and Darryn Binder. Nico Bulega has looked fast this weekend and will start from seventh alongside Enea Bastianini. However, ‘the Beast’ was involved in a final corner crash, which appeared to leave him struggling with a left ankle injury.

World Championship leader Jorge Martin will start from thirteenth after appearing to struggle with his left wrist. Despite setting the second fastest time early in the session, Martin had to visit the Medical Centre for further treatment. Coming back heavily taped, the Spaniard wasn’t able to go faster than the fifth row.
